Graham was born on October 14, 1999.  His breeder is Tommy Conway of  Wicklow, Ireland.  Tommy is known for breeding Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier under the prefix of Ballyfoyle.  He is rather new to Glens.

I first talked to Tommy just after the puppies were born.  I was then encouraged by breeders here in the U.S. and in Ireland to purchase what Tommy felt was the best puppy in the litter whether it was a male or a female.

Since the litter was 3 days old, Tommy talked about a wheaten male that was sure a cracker.  This is the pup that grew into my Graham, who is still a cracker!!! (Hence his name)

Graham arrived in the United States on December 17, 1999. He left the Dublin airport at 11:30 am local time.  He was to land at JFK in New York and then transfer plans arriving into San Francisco at 9:30 pm PST.

At 5:00 I called Delta Cargo to make sure his flight was on time.  It was in fact he was arriving at 6:30, not 9:30!!!   I live approximately 3 hours from SFO.  It seems they wanted to make sure he got into San Francisco before customs closed, so the bumped his flight out of NY by three hours.

He arrived in fine shape and in a clean and dry crate.  But he was not too happy.  The manager at Delta cargo had taken him out for a walk and a drink before I arrived and he was not a bit happy being returned to his crate!!  The office personnel almost didn't let me have him.  They wanted to adopt him as their mascot!

He rode home in my lap as my son drove.  When we arrived home, I didn't want to confine him to his crate again, so up went a baby gate and he was given the free roam of the kitchen.

This did not please him at all and he set off howling!  He howled in his crate, he howled in his crate in the garage and finally we put him outside and he quieted right down!  He has never howled like that again.........

Below are pictures of him the night he arrived from Ireland.   I will try to update this page often.

Thank you to all of you who have encouraged me to become involved in this breed.  (You know who you are).  I only hope the my adventures with Glens will be as rewarding as my years in Cairns.   Thank you all again.........
